장재석이 별명이 바레장인 이유는 NBA 클리블랜드 센터였던 앤더슨 바레장(Anderson Varejão)이 플레이 스타일이 장재석과 비슷하다는 이유 때문이다. 그런데 장재석이 나이가 들면서 과거에 비해 실책이 많아지고 특유의 펌프 fake를 모두 파악하게 되어 공격 루트가 단조로워지는 문제가 있었다.

그런데 국가대표 장재석은 다르다. 회춘한 느낌이다.

단순한 펌프페이크가 아닌 더블클러치 슛, 베이스라인에서 미들슛. G리그를 가야하는게 아닌지 하는 실력이다.
